A new state-of-the-art station for the Houston Fire Department is now open downtown. It was officially dedicated and blessed Thursday morning. The long-awaited Station 8 is off of Louisiana and St. Joseph Parkway. The new station is the largest in the city and can house 25 firefighters.

"These fire stations are our home," said HFD Chief Phil Boriske. "This is where we come and congregate as family. We share our stories, break our bread and serve the community together. So having this facility open up is very meaningful for Houston firefighters."

The new station has actually been operating for about a month. It replaces the old firehouse that was torn down years ago.
