Man dupes people into donating money

A Houston based business is in trouble with the State Attorney General's Office. The business allegedly duped people into donating for a cause they thought went toward fallen peace officers' families.The Attorney General's Office is ordering Brian Brumfield and his business, Thornebrooks Shapiro, LLC, to pay nearly $12 million. Investigators say he bilked small businesses around the country into donating the money for a magazine called "The Sheriff's Journal," which doesn't exist.

A criminal investigation is also underway by federal authorities.
