UH baseball to finish reg. season vs. Marshall

HOUSTON The series begins with 6:30pm games on both Thursday and Friday, and ends with a 1pm game on Saturday.

Houston (31-21, 11-10 C-USA) enters the weekend following a 14-4 blowout over UTSA in San Antonio on Tuesday. Every Cougar starter had at least one base hit in the Cougars' 17-hit attack, nine of which went for extra bases.

The Cougars are 5-2 all-time against Marshall and own a 3-0 record at Cougar Field.

Junior right-hander Steve Blevins is slated to make the start for the Thundering Herd. Blevins is 8-2 with a 4.44 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 75.0 innings.

Fellow junior Nate Lape leads Marshall at the plate with a team-best .379 batting average, 14 home runs and 52 RBIs. On Friday, sophomore southpaw Wes Musick (7-4) is expected to take the mound for the Cougars. This season, Musick has a 4.32 ERA and fanned a team-high 67 batters in 75 innings pitched.

The Lufkin native picked up Houston's lone win against Marshall last season, surrendering only one run in seven innings and striking out five in his only career appearance against the Thundering Herd.
