The jury must now decide whether to sentence Quintero to life in prison or death by lethal injection.
Punishment trial begins for murderer
HOUSTON Last Thursday, a Harris County jury convicted Quintero of the capital murder of Officer Rodney Johnson. In September of 2006, Quintero shot and killed Johnson while handcuffed in the back of Johnson's cruiser. Quintero had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
