For some reason, the vehicle went over the center median into oncoming traffic, and hit a pickup head on.
The deputy was transported to Hermann Hospital and is listed as stable. The person driving the truck was not hurt.
Although there's been no official word, part of the investigation will look into how fast the officer was traveling or if his attention was diverted.
