The family says two-year-old Koreyal Dixon was asleep in the same room with three other children when she was struck in the face and upper body by the gunfire. The girl's grandmother, Sheila Dixon, says she put her to sleep just hours before the shooting.
The little girl's family said she underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition. She was apparently conscious and alert before surgery.
The family thinks this shooting may have a connection to a shooting that happened at the same apartment complex yesterday. Police say they are investigating that allegation.
