Slain mother to be laid to rest today

HOUSTON The funeral service for 39-year-old Tina Davila was scheduled this morning. She'll be buried at San Jacinto Memorial Cemetery.

Authorities say she was attacked and stabbed during an attempted carjacking last week. Davila fought back to keep the suspect from taking her vehicle because her four month old daughter was in the back seat.

The suspected getaway driver did not appear in court this morning because of a medical hold.

Kennedy Escoto, 17, is charged with aggravated robbery. He was scheduled to appear before a judge, but that has been reset until Wednesday because of a medical condition.

Escoto was arrested Friday and was wearing a mask because he is said to have been diagnosed with tuberculosis.

Davila's suspected killer, Timoteo Rios, has not been caught. Authorities think he may have fled to his native Mexico. If you have any information on his whereabouts, you're asked to call crime stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
