Hooks roughed up again by Frisco

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX The RoughRiders (12-3) had 11 two-out hits and eight two-out RBIs.

Steve Murphy, Adam Fox, Emerson Frostad and Dustin Majewski, the 6-7-8-9 hitters for Frisco, combined to go 13-for-23 with seven doubles, a triple, home run and 12 RBIs.

RoughRiders starter Scott Feldman (2-0) lasted 5 2/3 innings. He was responsible for five runs, eight hits, one walk and two strikeouts.

Jake Dittler and Chris Michalak combined to work 3 1/3 shutout frames.

Frisco wasted no time jumping on Hooks starter Sean Walker (0-2). Craig Gentry led off with a double to right and scored on Elvis Andrus' single up the middle. Walker induced a 4-6-3 double play ball from Ben Harrison before the hit parade began in earnest. Back-to-back singles by Chris Davis and Max Ramirez, Murphy's two-run triple to right and a double the other way by Fox gave the RoughRiders a 4-0 lead.

The Hooks (9-6) waited an inning to respond, but did so emphatically. Rob Cosby opened with a single and ultimately scored on a sacrifice fly by Chris Johnson. Mitch Einertson's two run double plated Ray Sadler and Eli Iorg.

Seven of Einertson's 11 hits this season are doubles.

The RoughRiders took all three runs back before an out was recorded in the third. Walker issued walks to Ramirez and Murphy before exiting the game. Reliever German Melendez gave up run-scoring doubles to Fox and Frostad before Majewski ripped a two-run homer to left field.

Things got worse for Melendez in the fourth. Two-out doubles by Majewski and Frostad, plus Gentry's single, spiked the lead to 12-3.

Frisco added a run off Ryan Thompson two innings later. Fox singled, advanced to third on Frostad's third double of the night and scored when Gentry launched a sacrifice fly to center.

Two-out singles by Tommy Manzella and Richie Paz in the sixth cut the advantage to eight at 13-5. Manzella extended his hitting streak to eight games.

The RoughRiders answered by tagging Evan Englebrook with a two-run, five-hit seventh, Fox's two-out single returning the RoughRider cushion to 10.

Corpus Christi's Brad James (1-1) faces left-hander Matt Harrison (1-0) Sunday at 2:05 as the RoughRiders seek a series sweep.
