Suspect on the loose in deadly robbery

HOUSTON Homicide investigators say someone positively identified Timotio Rios, 24, the accused killer, from surveillance video at the cell phone store where Tina Davila was fatally stabbed.

Police tell us they're talking to Kennedy Escoto, who is believed to be the driver of the stolen golf Ford Taurus that pulled up next to Davila at that cell phone store.

On Thursday, detectives released more cell phone video. They say it shows Escoto and Rios stealing beer from a convenience store in Channelview. Then, say detectives, just a few hours later, they went to the cell phone store where Rios encountered Davila.

"The driver's claiming that the reason for it is they saw her get out of the Aspen with a handful of money and that it was his intent to get the money and he just happened to get the keys," said Lt. John Denholm with the Harris County Sheriff's Department. "But of course, you can draw your own conclusion since we've got them involved in several other cases where they carjack the women at knifepoint in front of businesses."

Rios has been charged with capital murder. Escoto is charged with aggravated robbery.

Rios has been arrested in Harris County before and according to investigators, he's in the country illegally. They have reason to believe he may have fled to Mexico and have issued an alert in hopes of catching him.

Harris County detectives are working with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the FBI. We'll bring you any new developments in this case as we learn them. If you have any information in this case, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
