Firefighters battle tough apartment fire

HOUSTON Firefighters say at least 20 units were damaged at the apartments on Gessner and Stroud in southwest Houston. Firefighters say they had a hard time getting to the fire because the buildings had a flat roof and then a rain roof built on top of it.

The fire went three alarms and people affected by it are emotional. A resident tells us one fire victim barely got out.

"She has a newborn baby, and he was in there and he was crying and he wants his milk," said the witness.

The Red Cross is now helping the fire victims. Investigators haven't determined the cause.
