Lopez was found fatally shot in the head in his home on South Meadow in February of 2001. At the time, Ewell was interviewed, but didn't admit to any knowledge of the killing.
Last month, investigators presented the case to a Fort Bend County grand jury, which indicted Ewells for murder. He was arrested without incident on Monday and is charged with murder.
