Sophomore names Galena Park student of the month

HOUSTON Alejandre, a sophomore at North Shore High School, scored a 189 on the PSAT exam that was a tie for the top score in the entire district. That's a tremendous accomplishment for a sophomore.

Alejandre has attended Cimarron Elementary and North Shore Middle School before attending North Shore High School. She plays flute and has served as a drum major for the North Shore Sound of Thunder Band and is currently president of her chapter of the National Honor Society.

Last year, she competed along with her teammates at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University. "My parents have always emphasized the importance of education and hard work in order to lead a successful life," she says, "I owe all my accomplishments to them."

She plans to pursue the medical field as a profession and is looking to attend Rice or Baylor after graduation.

"Cynthia is an extremely hard worker who will find success in whatever field she pursues," said John Moore, principal at North Shore High School.
