Couple fights back against home invader

HOUSTON It happened around midnight at an apartment on Uvalde at Audrey. A man with a gun entered an apartment, demanding money and drugs from a couple. The couple put up a fight. The woman grabbed a gun from the nightstand and fired several times, hitting the suspect. He fell down the stairs. Her husband was also hit. He was shot in the arm.

"The husband got into a physical altercation with a suspect. The wife was able to retrieve a handgun that they had up in the room. She fired shots, striking and apparently killing the suspect," said A.J. Kelly with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.

It's not clear if the husband was shot by his wife or the suspect.

Authorities say a woman was waiting in a vehicle in the parking lot. Deputies believe she may have been a getaway driver. She was taken into custody without incident.
