Woman commits suicide at police station

HOUSTON Police say Li Dong, 54, parked her car near a large tree on the east side of the Southwest Patrol Division Station at 4503 Beechnut. Around 12:30pm Thursday, a citizen leaving the station saw Dong slumped over in the car and went to check on her. That witness saw a shotgun in the victim's lap and went back inside to notify police.

Officers checked the vehicle and called Houston Fire Department paramedics. Dong was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Dong left a lengthy note stating that she believed she was being poisoned and that she had placed the poison in a container in the trunk of her vehicle.

HazMat team members were called as a precaution. A thorough examination of the car was conducted, but no signs of a hazardous chemical were found in or near the car.
