The contractor will demolish the remaining portion of the temporary Union Pacific Railroad bridge that crosses the I-10/Katy Freeway mainlanes. This temporary railroad bridge was originally constructed to facilitate railroad traffic during the construction of the new permanent UPRR bridge that opened February 19, 2008. The new UPRR Bridge was rebuilt to accommodate freeway improvements in the area.
Due to the concurrently scheduled closures, travel in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange will be very limited on Saturday. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or seek alternate routes to destinations in proximity to this area.
I-10/Katy Freeway westbound traffic will be detoured to exit at Washington Avenue, to make a right and continue to Old Katy Road to access the I-10 westbound frontage road and enter the I-10/Katy Freeway at Antoine. Other associated closures are listed below:
- Two inside lanes of I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound will be closed between I-610/West Loop and Washington Avenue on Saturday, March 22 from 6am to 2pm.
