A&M's 2-inning hit parade routs Tech

BIRMINGHAM, AL The Aggies hammered out five hits in the fourth and fifth and got big results. Of the six batters who drew walks and two who were hit by pitches, all scored. A&M finished the afternoon with 10 hits.

The victory was the sixth in a row for A&M (15-3, 2-0 Big 12). The Red Raiders fell to 8-8 and 0-2.

The score was 1-1 entering the bottom of the fourth. Then Brown cashed in one of two walks that led off the frame with a double inside the first-base line to give the Aggies the lead. It was the first of his game-high three hits on the afternoon.

Barret Loux (1-0) got the win. He lasted 5 2/3 innings and allowed four hits, one run and three walks while striking out three. After Loux hit a Red Raiders batter in the second inning, he retired 12 of the next 14 he faced.

Texas Tech's Nathan Karns (1-2) got the loss, lasting 3 1/3 and giving up six runs. Karns allowed just two hits but walked six and hit two.
