Defense questions officer in microwave trial

HOUSTON /*Joshua Maudlin*/ is on trial, accused of burning his daughter last year in a Galveston hotel room. A CPS worker testified Mauldin confessed the baby was burned when he put her in the small hotel room microwave.

However, a Galveston police officer admitted under cross examination that investigators are not entirely sure how the baby was actually put inside the appliance. The baby was about double the size of the microwave.

The police officer also admitted he was not 100 pecent sure exactly how the baby got burned.

Mauldin faces a charge of injury to a child. However, he pled not guilty and his attorney claims Mauldin is mentally ill.

The baby now lives with relatives.
