The girl lost her left ear and is recovering from third-degree burns. She now lives with relatives.
Her father faces from 5 to 99 years if convicted.
Trial to begin for father of microwaved baby
GALVESTON, TX Joshua Mauldin, 20, has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors say he punched his four-month-old girl at a Galveston hotel last May, and then put her in a microwave and turned it on.
