Gunfire erupts at N. Houston apartments

HOUSTON It happened at an apartment complex on Northborough near Rankin. Eyewitnesses say the gunfire erupted just after 2pm Sunday. Bullets were flying everywhere, they say. Neighbors say they witnessed a fight among several young men and that's when the shooting began.

Police say four males, likely teens or early 20s, were shot. They were all taken to nearby hospitals.

Neighbors say they're very concerned about the crime there. They fear for their own safety and the safety of the children in the complex.

"We heard something. We weren't sure what it was and then the cops show up. I didn't come over here to check everything out," said Mario Guillen, who lives in the complex. "And I heard they shot four people. I said, 'Oh my God. What the heck?' That's crazy. That's messed up, to live in a place like this."

Bullets ended up in doors, cars, and windows. One witness says one of the wounded kicked in a door at the complex and was hiding inside. The woman who lives in the unit was not home at the time.
