Longhorns bats prevail over Stanford

AUSTIN, TX Wood (2-1) struck out eight and walked one. Chance Ruffin got the save, allowing one hit in 1 1-3 innings for the Longhorns (9-2).

Stanford starter Jeremy Bleich (2-1) gave up all five Texas runs, one earned, while walking six and striking out four in six innings of work. The Cardinal fell to 6-4.

The Longhorns opened the game in the first when Jordan Dank's ground-rule double scored Travis Tucker. In the third, Texas added two runs on a two-base fielding error and another when an RBI single by Cameron Rupp scored Preston Clark.

Stanford scored in the eighth on a two-run homer by Jason Castro, his fourth of the season.
