Hermann Park train back in business

HOUSTON The new Hermann Park mini-train made its inaugural run around the park Friday morning. The train sat out of service for the past few months as workers expanded the rail line to 1.8 miles and added a larger gauge train track. The train is led by a scale replica of a 19th century steam locomotive that pulls six cars.

One longtime Houstonian thinks future generations will enjoy riding the train.

"It's just simply progress," said Houstonian Jack Blanton. "We improved and it's a lot better than it was and it's gonna be, this will be a favorite place for a lot of young people to bring their kids to."

Work is also underway on a new train depot and the addition of train stops.
