CORPUS CHRISTI, TX This season's promotional slate features a series of Hooks "fan favorites" figurines and a set of special giveaways to honor the 50th anniversary of the Corpus Christi Giants Texas League championship in 1958.
The figurine giveaways, sponsored by Citgo and distributed throughout the season, include former fan favorites like Josh Anderson, Hunter Pence and J.R. Towles. In July, from the 10 through the 13, the Hooks pay tribute to the '58 Giants with die-cast cars, caps and pennants.
The home opener happens April 3, when the first 2,500 fans through the gates receive replica statues of the ballplayer figure that towers near the main entrance of Whataburger Field.
"We are very fortunate to have the support of so many terrific corporate sponsors to be able to offer the kind of quality lineup of giveaways we have this season," said Wood. "I think our fans will get a kick out of some of our new items, like the sandals, the fishing poles, the playing cards and the kids' hampers. We may very well be giving away everything but the kitchen sink!"
