Authorities began investigating the drug ring in 2002, finding it spread from the Texas-Mexico border to other states. Undercover officers and others cooperating with the investigation bought weapons and drugs from the conspirators, prosecutors said.
More than a dozen others from East Texas, Houston and California have been sentenced in the scheme with sentences ranging from two years to 19 1/2 years.
