Fire destroys several apartment units

HOUSTON Fire sparked at the complex on Richmond near Rice last night. The fire spread into several separate attics. One resident says it may have started with a light outside in the courtyard.

"Some woman noticed it, she threw water on it but it didn't help," said Omero Longoria with the Houston Fire Department. "The smoke alerted a lot of people."

Investigators have not determined a cause. The entire complex was evacuated and no one was hurt. Several units sustained smoke and water damage.
