Man in crash at border shot to death

EL PASO, TX Manuel Hipolito Llanes Guzman, 24, crashed the Chevy Avalanche he was driving early Monday about 100 yards in front of a U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspection station at a southeast El Paso bridge connecting Ciudad Juarez with El Paso.

Investigators initially believed that Llanes was killed in the crash, but an autopsy later showed that he suffered a fatal gunshot wound.

Police said Tuesday a gun was found inside the vehicle. It is unclear where Llanes was shot, though the Ciudad Juarez resident was heading into Texas at the time of the crash, investigators said.
