Sugar Land woman killed while jogging

SUGAR LAND, TX Jan Schiff, wife of Sugar Land District 4 City Council Member Michael Schiff, was jogging across Sweetwater Boulevard at Greystone around 3:50pm when she was struck by a vehicle. She was taken by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Hospital where she died.

"This is a tragic loss for our entire community," said Sugar Land Mayor David Wallace. "The number of individuals that Jan has touched is countless in her years of community service with numerous non profit organizations and in her position at Fort Bend Independent School District. The entire community mourns her passing. Our prayers and support are with her family."

Schiff was volunteer and public schools coordinator with Fort Bend ISD and had lived in Sugar Land for the last 25 years.

The accident remains under investigation. The driver stayed at the scene.
