The confrontation happened at an apartment complex in the 2100 block of Lake Hills Drive around 10 p.m.
Police say the wife was at her apartment with another man when her husband showed up and kicked the door in.
According to investigators, the woman's male friend shot her husband in the chest.
Detectives say they will contact the district attorney about possible charges.
