Overturned truck spills cotton bales on West 610 Loop near Southwest Fwy

Friday, October 13, 2017
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Bales of cotton were scattered on the southbound lanes of the West 610 Loop due to an overturned big rig, snarling traffic ahead of the Friday morning rush.

The 18-wheeler was just getting off the Southwest Freeway connector ramp onto the 610 Loop when the big rig overturned around midnight. The overturn caused the truck's load to spill.

About 1,000 pounds of cotton bales were on the truck.

Speed and an improper load are being investigated as possible factors in the incident.

There were no other vehicles involved and no injuries reported.

Crews worked to clear the mess throughout the morning. Traffic started to flow as normal by 7:30 a.m.
