Wendy's claps back on Twitter about McDonald's beef

Wendy's zinged McDonald's on Twitter after its fresh beef announcement.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- After McDonald's announced it was transitioning to using mainly fresh meat in Quarter Pounders, Wendy's cooked up a Baconator-sized zinger on social media.

"So you'll still use frozen beef in MOST of your burgers in ALL of your restaurants? Asking for a friend," Wendy's asked Ronald McDonald in a sassy tweet on Thursday.

In a subsequent tweet, Wendy's reduced McDonald's' announcement to a "joke."

Other Twitter uses were quick to come to Wendy's defense, congratulating the company on its "savage" social media strategy.

Texas' own Whataburger even weighed in, reminding Twitter that they always "keep it fresh."

So far, McDonald's is paying no mind to the growing beef over beef.

The fast food giant said Thursday that it will swap frozen beef patties for fresh ones in its Quarter Pounder burgers by sometime next year at most of its U.S. locations.
