Hurricane Harvey lands as costliest hurricane in Atlantic Basin history

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- With the end of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, Hurricane Harvey tops the list as the costliest tropical cyclone in Atlantic Basin history.

Harvey caused an estimated $198 billion in damage. The monster storm also accounted for the most rainfall from any tropical cyclone in the Atlantic Basin with 60.58 inches falling in Nederland, Texas.

In comparison, Katrina's damage total equaled $108 billion and Sandy caused $75 billion in damage.
