The fifth-grader apparently took off in his mother's truck from home. Police said the boy then caught the attention of an officer when the truck ran a red light.
Police reported clocking the child at more than 80 mph.
The boy lost control of the truck and crashed. First-responders used the jaws of life to get him out of the wreckage.
