The 22-year-old Hispanic man, whose name has not been publicly released, was found unresponsive inside a drilling hole and pronounced dead on the scene. Law enforcement believes he was killed by the drill bit.
His grandfather was operating the drilling equipment at the time. Law enforcement said it is unclear how the young man wound up inside the hole.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration told ABC13 in a statement that the company involved is Groundhog Foundation Drilling. They are said to be a sub of subcontractor DMAC Construction, which general contractor Rosenberger Construction hired.
It is unclear if both the grandfather and the victim worked for Groundhog Foundation Drilling. ABC13 reached out to the companies for comment but has not heard back.
