To see how difficult it is to get out of a trunk, ABC13 reporter Rebecca Spera locked herself inside one with the help of her photographer, Raul Carmona. Inside the trunk, there is a glow-in-the-dark lever on the trunk door. Spera pulled on that lever, the trunk popped open within seconds and she was able to escape.

A federal law went into effect in 2001 that requires all new cars to have emergency release latches in the trunk, and they have to glow in the dark.
