HOUSTON (KTRK) -- A 300-pound ornament stolen from a NW Houston shopping center earlier this week was located on Sunday.

A passer-by spotted the ornament in a field off of Cypresswood Drive in Spring. The word "Northline" was clearly visible on the inside of the large decoration.

Property managers at the Northline Commons along the North Freeway say the massive piece of holiday decor was stolen from the shopping center's common areas at some point on Thursday morning.

Late on Sunday afternoon, crews arrived with a flatbed truck to recover the ornament.

General Manager Jeff Procell tells Eyewitness News that, despite the theft, the shopping center is going ahead with plans to welcome Santa Claus to the property via helicopter at 11:30am on Black Friday.

Houston police have assumed responsibility of the investigation. Northline Commons is offering a reward for information leading to the ornament's return.
