16-year-old arrested after 15-year-old shot near METRO stop in north Houston, police say

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Authorities are investigating after a shooting near a METRO stop left a 15-year-old in the hospital and a 16-year-old in handcuffs Thursday afternoon.
Houston police said they responded to shots fired at 300 W. Tidwell at about 2:40 p.m.

Police said they found a 15-year-old with a gunshot wound to his hand. He was transported to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

HPD Commander Jonathan Halliday said the incident started as a disturbance at a school nearby but spilled over to a bus stop on W. Tidwell.

According to police, a 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody, and a firearm was recovered by a third party.

Halliday said they were unsure why the victim and suspect were at the school.

HPD North Patrol and METRO officers are interviewing witnesses as they work to investigate the shooting.
