ATLANTA, GA (KTRK) -- Arby's is warning customers to keep a close eye on their credit card statements after malware in cash registers potentially compromised hundreds of thousands of customers' credit card data.

The breach occurred between Oct. 25 and Jan. 19 at company-owned restaurants.

According to Arby's, hackers installed malware on cash registers to steal credit card data as customer's cards were swiped.

The company says the malware has since been eradicated, also stressing that the breach did not affect franchise locations.

The malware is likely the same type of software used in previous breaches at Target and Home Depot stores.
