HOUSTON (KTRK) -- We're taking a look back at old newscasts.

This time we're looking at what was making news on Oct. 13, 1980. On that day, it was a Lifeflight helicopter that crashed at the helipad at Memorial Hermann Hospital. Two people were injured.

The mosquito threat wasn't West Nile virus or Zika, it was St. Louis Encephalitis. An 86-year-old woman from West University was believed to be latest victim of the deadly disease. Five other cases were suspected.
In 1980 the mosquito borne disease to worry about was St. Louis encephalitis

What was hot in 1980? Jordache Jeans! Here's a commercial from our newscast on that day.
