United giving free trip to Australia for anyone named Sydney

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- It's a good time to be named Sydney.

United Airlines is marking its first nonstop Houston-to-Sydney flight with a giveaway.

According to the airline, five lucky Sydneys, or anyone with a derivative of it in their first or surname, will be awarded seats to the first nonstop flight from George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Sydney, Australia. The flight is set for Jan. 18, 2018.

The lucky winners will win a trip for two as well as five nights at The Westin Sydney and a $500 prepaid card.

The Sydneys can enter at SydneyHoustonUnited.com through Dec. 27. The contest is eligible to anyone living in the U.S. except for New York and Florida.

In a twist, United is also giving five lucky people in Australia with the first or last name Houston a vacation to Texas.
