HOUSTON (KTRK) -- The search is on for a surfing dog!

Back in August, Cowboy Gene (or is it Cowboy Jean?) came to Houston to audition for a spot in the 2017 Tournament of Roses Parade float. The folks with the Lucy Pet Gnarly Crankin' K9 Wave Machine saw plenty of surfing dogs, but it was this little Pomeranian pooch from Lake Jackson who really won their hearts.

Now here's where it gets better. They want Cowboy Gene to ride the waves on their Lucy Pet Guinness World Record Breaking Rose Parade Float on January 2 in Pasadena, California. There's just one snag. They can't find him - or his owners.

The Lucy Pet folks say they've tried and tried, but they can't track down the owners of this adorable surfing pooch, but the owner's last name is Williams. They want to fly his family to Pasadena and put them up at a hotel for four nights, with VIP seating for the parade. Did we mention that Cowboy Gene will ride the float, and one member of his family will be right there by his side?!

If you have information to help track down the Williams family from Lake Jackson and Cowboy Gene, contact the Lucy Pet Foundation or call 855-499-LUCY (5829).
