CYPRESS, Texas (KTRK) -- Some hard-working gymnasts out of Cypress brought home a slew of honors at the state gymnastics championships.

Fifteen athletes from Cypress Academy of Gymnastics competed in Saginaw with hopes of soon making the Junior National Teams.

Evan Davis, 17, son of ABC13 director Jeffrey Davis, was among the gymnasts who competed, placing first in all around, high bar, parallel bars, and pommel. He also brought home second on the vault, and third on rings.

Cypress Academy also won the level 10 team award at the championships.

Evan, who is a Junior Elite gymnast at Cypress Academy of Gymnastics, has been training there since 2007. He is a junior at Jersey Village High School.

This is the same academy that helped propel Olympians Jonathon Horton and Chris Brooks to the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Games, and the Rio 2016 Games respectively.

Evan and other athletes who qualified will now go on to compete in May at the Junior Olympic Nationals.

Congratulations to Evan and everyone at Cypress Academy of Gymnastics!
