Deadly wreck investigation shuts down South Loop at Kirby, creating rush hour gridlock

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- The investigation into a deadly wreck shut down the South Loop at Kirby for hours, causing ripple effects for drivers across the city.

The eastbound mainlanes and feeder road were closed for the investigation.

Traffic backed up for miles, clogging the West Loop lanes all the way from the Katy Freeway.

The mainlanes of the South Loop were reopened at about 10 a.m.
