CONROE, Texas (KTRK) -- After seeing the images from Hurricane Harvey, a Conroe ISD student decided to start a homecoming dress drive to help other students.

What started as a simple idea has taken off to something bigger for Ashley Reel with donations coming in from all over the country.

"It just makes me happy helping everyone," she said.

Reel is a freshman at Oak Ridge High School in Conroe. The gowns are packed into Ashley's home and her mom, Tammy Reel, made more room in their garage.

"She wanted to do something that would make a difference with her peers and I thought that was pretty special," Tammy Reel said.
