HOUSTON (KTRK) -- Astronaut Buzz Aldrin is headlining an appropriately named event this weekend aimed at raising money to preserve Texas history.

The group Historical Texas Treasures is hosting the Extravaganza of Stars at a beautiful home in Montrose Saturday.

The event's aim: "digitally preserve the true stories of our modern Texas Heroes... to empower, educate and inspire the next generation of leaders through entrepreneurship."

In addition to Aldrin, George Foreman, Clay Walker, Booker T and Jordin Sparks will be in attendance, in addition to a number of Houston's own local celebrities.

Everything except the valet and serving staff was donated, including food for 400-500 people, organizers said.

Inside a giant tent in the back yard, there will be two bands playing with colorful a light show.

Chef Eric Aldis is the executive chef who is donating his food. Aldis has been all over the world, but returned to his hometown of Houston.

Even the landscaping has a Super Bowl theme, where some of the flowers are Patriots colors, others are Falcon colors, a representative of Thomas Landscaping said.

You can read more on the event on the Historical Texas Treasures website.
