Snapchat shooting suspects no strangers to police

Tuesday, October 3, 2017
HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Houston Police are giving us new details about a man and woman charged after a Snapchat video surfaced, apparently showing them randomly shooting out of a moving vehicle in west Houston.

Chief Art Acevedo said a man known to officers as Money Mike, or Michael Cuellar, turned himself in to a judge today on the heels of Sierra Tarbutton's arrest.

Cuellar is a known drug dealer, according to HPD. Tarbutton meanwhile has claimed in the past to know members of the cartel, police say.

According to court paperwork, she once threatened a police officer's daughters saying, "That is two cute little girls, those are going to be two cute little tombstones."

Acevedo did not discuss the timeline of when and how the video came to the police department's attention last week, but was adamant in saying once it did, they were eager to find the suspects and make an arrest.

"People need to understand they were just shooting into the air, shooting at actual property," Acevedo said.

We noted for the chief that the person who posted the video to Reddit described being transferred from department to department before being able to make a report.

Chief Acevedo says call 311, 911 if you have to, even his own office to make a report.

"You try to report and we're not responding, call my office and let us know," Acevedo said.

Residents were on edge after the video went viral on social media.

According to Reddit user "HARRISCORES," three different videos on Snapchat appear to show Cuellar shooting out of a vehicle on Memorial near Crossroads Drive and Tarbutton shooting out of a vehicle near Highway 6 between Memorial and Westheimer.

Tonight at 6:30, more on how police tracked the two down through social media and what Michael Cuellar's attorney has to say about the video.
