HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A 1-year-old child was shot in the leg Monday afternoon in southwest Houston.

According to Houston police, the boy, who was in a car seat, was shot by another individual in a passing vehicle on Mullins in Meyerland.

The boy's mother did not realize he was hurt until she arrived at a nearby home and saw his injuries. They are not believed to be life-threatening.

"At this point we don't have any information showing that (the shooting) was anything other than random," Lt. Robert Blain of HPD's Homicide Division said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Houston Police Department.
