Derrick Green's family says he stole a car and led police on a chase on the afternoon of February 28th. Green then hit a fire hydrant, got of his car, and started running, his family said.

"He's trying to get over this fence in my yard and he couldn't make it," explained witness Peggy Webb. "The young man shot four times from his car."
Anthony Bentley, 17, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Green's family and community activist Quanell X are demanding that charge be bumped up to attempted murder.
"Who gave this young man the permission to become judge, jury, and executioner out here on the scene? This 17-year-old man, Derrick Green, was wrong for being in a stolen car. That's why we have a court system," Quanell X said.

No one answered the door when ABC13 went to Bentley's home.
District Attorney's statement:
We are evaluating all facts and evidence in the case. It has not been presented to the grand jury. At that time, additional charges or a different charge may be considered.
