According to an update from Detective Charles Coddou, the motorcyclist may have fired the shots at a car, hitting it numerous times in the hood.
The person inside the car was OK, but after the shooting, Coddou said the motorcyclist lost control and crashed in the mainlanes of the freeway.
During the wreck, ammunition was scattered across the freeway. Deputies found a gun.
The motorcyclist has a broken arm, authorities say.

The person in the car being shot at called 911 and drove to an area where they felt safe, said Coddou, adding that deputies saw three bullet holes in the hood.
While the incident is under investigation, detectives said they do know that the two vehicles were merging from the Beltway to I-45 northbound, and that's where it all began.
The person in the car did not have a weapon, Coddou said, explaining that they could file aggravated assault charges.
