Close call for spectators when race car leaves the track

Monday, April 30, 2018
WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina (KTRK) -- Terrified spectators watched as a race car left the course and looked like it might crash into the crowd in North Carolina.

The driver lost control of the car, went over the course wall and slammed into a guardrail.

But track officials say the accident posed no threat to the safety of the spectators because the guardrail did its job and kept the car from going any farther into the stands.

No one was hurt, including the driver.
