HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- A woman was found dead and partially burned near the Gulf Freeway on Wednesday morning, according to investigators.
The Houston Police Department said that crews were mowing grass near the 8100 block of the Gulf Freeway at about 9 a.m. when they discovered the woman's body.
HPD said its homicide investigators, as well as the Houston Fire Department Arson Bureau and the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, determined that the victim's body was partially burned.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, officials said, adding that an autopsy will determine the cause of death.
