The Houston Police Department said the kidnapping happened on June 24 at a stop sign along Botany Lane.
Investigators said the victim was visiting the city from out of state when she stopped to take a look at her directions.
"All I remember was when I was putting in my GPS, trying to change the location and get back to my hotel, a guy ran up on me. Like I said, the guy that was in the picture out on a black shirt, light-colored pants, and had a gun pointed at me, and was just like dry, giving me directions on where to go," said the victim, Da'Nisha Washington.
The woman cooperated with the suspect when he demanded that she drive, according to police.
Washington says it wasn't until she begged to get gas that she was able to get help.
"So I grabbed my phone, keys, and my wallet. I went into the store and I let the clerks know, like, 'Hey, this guy (has) been holding me hostage. He has a gun. Can I please call the police? Call the police,'" Washington said.
The woman told police that the suspect followed her into the store while hiding his handgun.
She walked up to the counter and quietly informed the store clerk that the suspect had a gun and that she needed help, according to police.
Investigators said the suspect was suspicious that she was trying to get help and told her to come back to the vehicle. Police said that when she refused to cooperate, he ran back to her vehicle and drove away.
All of this was caught on camera, but Washington said it left her with a terrifying picture.
"I really thought he was going to kill me because he had the gun pointed at me the entire time in the car," Washington said.
Surveillance video from the gas station captured the alleged suspect on camera. Police describe him as a Black man who is in his late 20s. He's about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighs about 175 pounds.
And it's now something she said she's still dealing with today.
"I'm not gonna lie, I still think about it. I try not to, but it's hard," Washington said.
The victim's 2014 white Kia four-door sedan was found unoccupied the next day on Highway 6 in Brazos County.
